WPL Diamond DMS

Sewage Treatment for the Home Diamond-3D-Redered-cut-away.jpg

Domestic Sewage Treatment DiamondSewage treatment plant for
1 - 20 people

The WPL Diamond range offers sewage treatment plants for properties that are not connected to mains drainage.  The DMS range includes a range of sizes suitable for 1-20 people.

Why Diamond?

There are several key reasons to choose a Diamond wastewater solution for your development:
  • Minimal maintenance, low running cost - unlike other sewage treatment plants on the market, the Diamond’s unique design has no internal moving parts.  This means that it requires minimal annual maintenance, making it economical to run.
  • Kind to the environment – the Diamond’s treatment process requires no chemicals, so it’s kind to the environment.
  • Minimal visual impact – the Diamond’s tank is buried entirely underground, so it has minimal visual impact.
  • No smells – most other treatment plants have primary tanks which store settled solids and can emit odours.  The Diamond has no primary tank and is therefore odour-free.
  • Long emptying cycle – the Diamond’s continuous bacterial digestion treats wastewater to a standard that meets all normal Environment Agency consents.  This treatment process can achieve a de-sludge (emptying) period of up to three years – much longer than that of most other plants.

Process Performance Guaranteed

The Diamond treats wastewater to a 95 percentile standard of:
  • 20mg/l Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
  • 30mg/l Suspended Solids (SS)
  • 20mg/l Ammoniacal Nitrogen (AMM-N)
If more stringent environmental requirements are specified, please contact WPL on 02392 242 600

How does the Diamond treatment plant work?

  • Wastewater enters the Diamond via the inlet pipe directly into the central aeration chamber (1)
  • The central aeration chamber (1) empties into the bottom of the outer clarifier chamber (2).
  • A drop pipe (7) releases air through a disc plate diffuser (4).
  • An upward flow of process fluid draws settled solids (5) through the draft tube (3) to discharge at the surface of the aeration chamber.
  • The design of the draft tube (3) ensures complete mixing of oxygen with the sewage. Oxygenation allows aerobic organisms, that biologically degrade wastewater contaminants, to grow.
  • Gravity causes aerated solids to settle at the tank bottom (5) where they are drawn back up through the draft tube (3).
  • Raw sewage displaces biological solids (8)from the aeration chamber (1) to the clarifier chamber (2). Quiescent conditions in the clarifier allow digested solids to settle at the base (5) and  return to the aeration chamber (1).
  • The clarified effluent flows up through the scum baffle (9) and over the weir arrangement (6) prior to discharge via the outlet pipe.

How To Save Water Efficiently?

It is always important to know how to efficiently use water in your home – not only for the sake of the environment, but also for saving you money. Here are some tips that will help you keep your water in check for around the house.

* Know your current water consumption and compare it to the average daily-per-capita domestic consumption. This will give you an idea of how much you could be wasting.

* Check your sanitary equipment, review your spending habits and decide upon the technological changes needed.

* Repair leaks. A leaky toilet for example can waste 200,000 litres per year!

* Change your consumption habits. Take a shower rather than a bath. Turn off the tap while washing, shaving, brushing teeth etc. Do not let the water run and use it only when you really need it.

* Don’t use the toilet as a bin for flushing away baby wipes or tissues. This is a monumental waste of water, when a bin would suffice.

* Use quick flush or low flush toilets to save water where necessary.

* Use flow reducer shower heads to reduce water consumption of up to 10 litres for a 5 minute shower.

* Don't defrost food under running water, just use your fridge the night before.

* Turn the sink tap off when washing up and only use as much as you need to.

* Use quick cycle on your washing machine. Try not to do lots of half loads per day and the same is relevant for the dishwasher. Only use when full.

* Look for efficient kitchen appliances, such as dishwasher, tumble drier and washing machine.

* Don’t fill a whole kettle up if you're only making 1 or 2 cups of tea.

* Install aerators and flow restrictors on taps throughout the home. They can also be screwed into the pipes of the kitchen taps with aerators and flow restrictors placed in the pipes in the bathroom to reduce water consumption.

* Flow reducers. These devices can be incorporated into the piping of the sinks or showers to prevent water consumption exceeding a set amount (typically 8 litres per minute to 15 litres per minute for a tap and 10 litres per minute to 20 litres per minute for a shower.)

* If you use air conditioning, clean the filters properly and always aim to buy the most energy efficient model possible.

* When it rains which it generally does in England install a rainwater harvesting system for your garden. It is great for being able to store large quantities of water. If the rainwater is harvested you can dramatically reduce the amount of water used daily per person.

We all love to save money and do our bit for the environment so what are we waiting for?

Conder Aqua Solutions Bring Out New Range Of Shallow Tanks

Conder Range of Septic Tanks
Conder Aqua Solutions, industry leading water and wastewater treatment specialists, has this month announced the launch of its new range of septic tanks, now available in reinforced and super reinforced options through the introduction of a new granular surround backfill. The introduction will bring to the market significantly reduced installation costs combines with an easier install process and a superior performance.
The new super reinforced range of septic tanks means that a granular backfill can be used, rather than the traditional concrete back fill which means less installation time is required and as such install costs are reduced significantly.
Conders range of septic tanks feature some of the most advanced technical qualities in the industry including built in impingement pre-filters that prevent suspended solids from entering the external pipework and drainage field. The tanks are also uniquely designed for shallow digs ensuring enhanced performance and durability as well as being fully CE approved and tested to EN12566-1.
“The new super reinforced septic tank has been introduced to create more cost effective and efficient installation processes for builders and installers” says Stuart Wray, Managing Director at Conder Aqua Solutions.  “Not only do the tanks contain some of the most advanced technical qualities in the industry but due to the introduction of a new granular backfill our customers will benefit from much cheaper installation costs without any compromise on product. We’ve estimated that it’s possible to save up to £380 based on a typical 3000 litre septic tank.
Conder has already seen customers move  to the super reinforced tanks after learning about the cost saving benefits it can bring “We’re delighted with the industry’s response to the new product at such an early stage”, continued Stuart. “Already we’re receiving really positive feedback on how this product will reduce installation and maintenance costs and make for a far easier installation process,“ added Stuart.
The Conder range of low profile septic tanks are manufactured in both HDPE from 3000 to 10000 litres and GRP tanks manufacturing in capacities ranging from 12000 to 250000 litres. The company have a full range of wastewater treatment products, stormwater solutions, storage tanks and pumping stations.
